The GhostFace mask became an instantly recognisable icon of Horror when it made it’s debut in Director Wes Craven’s ‘Scream’ (1996). Throughout the Scream Series of Films the Ghostface Character often remained the same; a dagger wielding serial killer in a long hooded robe with a mask inspired by Edvard Munich’s famous painting ‘The Scream’. Throughout all the storylines in all four of the Scream Films the costume is considered easily obtainable by the protagonists. This narrative made identifying the buyers all the more difficult, thus creating the scenario that anyone could be the killer. This white rubber mask includes a spandex-style hood with faux tatters & black facial features. It would have been used as a back-up mask for choreographic purposes & was ultimately not used on screen. It is believed some of the back-up masks were used by Extras in the ‘Stab Marathon’ Screening Party. There is some minor wear to the mask, including a small tear near the seam of the hood, but otherwise remains in excellent production used condition. Provenance: Obtained from one of the Wardrobe Assistants who worked on the Film, with accompanying Letter & six (6) Production Polaroids. This item is now reserved.
