Independence Day (1996) - A Piece of the City Destroyer (SOLD)
Regular priceSale price
Perhaps one of the most memorable scenes in the history of film was when the menacing City Destroyer blew up the White House in Director Roland Emmerich’s epic American Sci-Fi Film. Gargantuan it may have seemed on screen, but the actual City Destroyer was achieved using three intricate model miniatures ranging in size from 4 feet to 30 feet diameters. This is a 3x3cm section of the 30 foot City Destroyer Model used to choreograph those iconic scenes. The section includes various geometrical elements made from a hardened resin which is adhered to a high density fibreboard. Model making was an integral part of the Film’s Production; ingeniously incorporated to portray Spaceships, Manhattan Streets & the New York City Skylines, which became synonymous with the Film’s marketing campaign. Independence Day’ grossed more than $800 million worldwide & formed the Sci-Fi resurgence of the 1990s. This piece is beautifully mounted within a striking display (13x18”) & accompanies Provenance.
