Like other prop companies we offer our own certificate of authenticity which emphasises the research that we do for every prop that we sell. However what makes us different from other prop suppliers is that we don't primarily use our own COA to authenticate a film prop. We prefer to ‘prove’ that the prop was indeed used in the film by providing studio authorised documentation which comes in many different forms such as Director & Producer letters, photographs and film studio hand signed notes attesting to a prop's authenticity.
Factors such as provenance and origin are vitally important and they play a significant part in authenticating our props.
Our extensive research involves analysing a prop right from it’s origin, during it’s use for production, through to it being available on the film memorabilia market today. We work directly with film industry specialists, film production crew and film studios to ensure that we can provide a package of information about where the prop was used in the film and who it was used by.
We obtain our props directly from the film studios or from auction houses with a worldwide reputation for focusing on Hollywood and movie memorabilia. This way we eliminate the stress of the auction room and of competition from our customers by doing all this ourselves!
We adhere to one simple policy - if we can't prove that it was used in the film, we won't obtain it. We have no tolerance for collectors who misrepresent items as being ‘the real thing’ when they are merely replicas or reproductions. This practice is not only fraudulent but is immoral and lessens the trust between buyer and seller. It is for this reason that provenance and authentication are absolute priorities of our trade.
